Taking out the Laundry

As this year comes to an end, I find myself in a very deep focus on whats ahead for 2012 but first, I need to get things off of my chest Continue reading

The Importance of Light, and waiting for it.

Found this video on youtube on the impact that light has in photography. It’s a time lapse that shows how light affects the scene. I think it’s very important to learn this and for it to become like second nature. Always wait for the light. This video is focused on landscapes, but you can apply it to any other genre of photography.

True Greatness Remembered

The King

Don’t be sad today because Mr. King isn’t here. Be glad, and smile at the fact that such a wonderful person, with such strength, and resiliency, was actually here on Earth with us, albeit for a short while. God graced us with such a great individual, that has inspired people across the globe. Please, never forget his legacy, and try to keep it in your thoughts for the rest of your life. At the top is my favorite portrait of him. I don’t know who took this picture, but to me, he/she really captured him well.

We spoke about the loss of her son, and life in general. It was a sad, and uplifting experience at the same time. I hoped that made sense, at least a little. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, “Sometimes it’s not about pictures”. When you make a connection with another person, you both benefit. This person needed to vent, and I feel God put me there for that reason, under the guise of taking a portrait. Neither one of us walked away with a picture, but I believe we both walked away feeling better on an emotional and spiritual level. If God want’s to use me this way from time to time, I’m all for it. Happy Holidays to all.

Sometimes, its not about pictures.

The other day I had some free time so I decided to hit the street and do some shooting. Now, when I do go street shooting, I usually head out to Manhattan. Sometimes I go to Chinatown, Lower East Side, or Harlem. On this particular Continue reading
